We saw the coolest thing today.<\/p>\n
While over at the pasture fixing fence and trying to get the neighbors steer who broke the fence back into his own pasture we saw something over on the road. We stared in confusion as we drove through the rain. Until I realized there were horses somehow mixed into whatever that was. Luckily it was going slow. By the time we made it clear across a field and the pasture it was still driving alongside the pasture down the road.<\/p>\n
I chased after it bouncing across the rough ground as fast as I dared while trying not to break my trusty green mount. we skirted clear out around trying to catch up without spooking the team.<\/p>\n
It was a different neighbor driving a beautiful team of grey mares.<\/p>\n
The contraption they were moving was a mower. It was moved by horses but had a small gasoline engine that powered the hydrolics, steering, and mower blades. It was fascinating and strange.<\/p>\n
The horses were the best part of course. The mare on the far side I had seen before. She was part of a different team that pulled the wagon for church caroling a couple years ago. The near one was a young horse who was started as a two year old but hadn’t hardly been worked in years. Here she was driving this huge mower down a fairly busy county road with cars and even semis flying past.<\/p>\n
They were both handling it like champs. It was beautiful to watch. Now I just need to catch them doing the actual mowing so I can watch some more.<\/p>\n\n\t\t
